How to Adjust the Count of Days IE Keeps Browsing History

This simple guide explains how to modify the amount of days your Internet Explorer will keep browsing history.

There may be various reasons why you might want to change the settings in Internet Explorer defining how long your browsing history is kept in temporary files.

Sometimes you want to protect your privacy from the nosy eyes using the same computer, and sometimes you just want to free up disk space more quickly deleting unwanted temporary Internet files.

To adjust the count of days your Internet Explorer will keep browsing history, do the following:

  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Click Tools in the main menu
  3. Go to Internet Options
  4. Click the General tab
  5. In the History section, find the text field saying Days to keep pages in history
  6. Now you can choose the count of days you want Internet Explorer to store your browsing history
  7. Click OK
  8. When done, you can invoke history window by pressing Ctrl+H to review how much is recorded and for how long
