Microsoft security researchers are moving towards the closing of the recently discovered Windows cursor flaw that allowed malicious users to hijack affected computer exploiting the animated cursors mechanism.Security researchers say this flaw is already being exploited by attackers using boody-trapped and forged internet sites. Microsoft said it would skip its normal procedure of issuing security updates and speed up a security patch to keep internet users their Windows operating system safe. This is apparently linked to the increasing number of attack attempts using this flaw. The problem was brought to daylight in late March when it had been discovered that the animated cursor flaw can be exploited to take over a PC. Windows patch has been released much earlier than in a normal procedure because the attacks increased in number and code to exploit the vulnerability is widely in circulation. The fix is scheduled to be released on 10 April and Windows users can update their system using the Windows automatic update feature. |
