iPhone cracked by hackers
Thursday, 05 July 2007

According to BBC, iPhone devices were being probed for security vulnerabilities hours after its market launch. Multiple hackers and security researchers are reported to be poring over Apple's iPhone in an effort to discover security holes in the devices.

An attempt to crack AT&T code that binds customer to the operator's network ranks top on the hackers' list. If they can break it, it will give iPhone users the ability to connect to other networks, including in Europe.

Some security researchers reported that there has been already worked out ways to activate the device without the need of registering with AT&T. Jon Lech Johansen – a widely recognised hacker, has already published an activation tool on his homepage.

The tool enables iPhone owners to use their devices as an iPod and Wi-Fi device without being bound with a two-year AT&T contract. However, they are unable to make calls using iPhone.
