CanSecWest test performed last week showed that a Java-based vulnerability in QuickTime can affect not only Mac but also Windows users. The flaw can be exploited basically on all browsers and systems with multimedia software and this does include Microsoft Windows. According to SecurityFocus' announcement released on Monday, security experts are to research this issue to confirm if Windows systems are affected too. Firefox Mac version and Safari web browser are considered to be vulnerable. Windows and Mac OS X users are advised to turn off Java when they have Apple's QuickTime multimedia software installed on their systems at the same time. |
