Network proxies filtering tool released
Tuesday, 03 April 2007

DeepNines Technologies - one of the network security vendors - is combining its tool iTrust with the URL filtering technology developed by SurfControl to prevent school pupils from visiting not permitted Web sites.

Schools are legally obliged to prevent adult material and pornographic sites from being visited by school pupils using school computers. The iTrust tool can help network administrators to eliminate unauthorised Web sites by using the URL filtering technology and by detecting Web proxies that are often used to access unauthorised Web sites.

The tool aims at blocking malicious websites and proxies. The use of Web proxies has become an increasingly epidemic problem because normal firewall software cannot block sites viewed using proxies.

iTrust can block ten different types of Web proxies which delivers good level of protection and control for network administrators making Internet activity monitoring far easier. iTrust can monitor network in real time and deliver instant data about network utilisation.

DeepNine's product can track any Web activity and gather data for later report generation.
