Norton 360 Support - Smart Firewall Protection Alert
Explaining Small Firewall Protection Alert in Norton 360
Norton 360 displays protection alerts when some security features are turned off. Turning security features off can affect your overall protection status and Norton 360 always asks for your attention when a security feature is turned off.
This includes the Smart Firewall. When Smart Firewall is turned off, Norton 360 displays protection alerts to inform you about the potential security risk.
Some users often turn off Smart Firewall completely, because they cannot access a website or an online service such as p2p file exchange networks. This way of solving connection problems is not safe, and in order to retain highest possible level of protection, you should adjust your Smart Firewall settings to meet your needs, instead of turning it off.
Sometimes, you may wish to just turn the Smart Firewall temporarily without adjusting advanced connection settings. To do so, use the drop-down in Norton's Firewall Protection Alert window.
Smart Firewall will be turned back on after a specified period of time. However, you can turn it back on manually at any time by right-clicking the Norton 360 status icon.
