Does Norton Internet Security protect against spyware?

Norton Internet Security includes antispyware tools to detect, block and remove spyware programs that may reside in your computer's memory or files.

In the past, there were versions of Norton Security that did not include anti-spyware features by default.

For example in the 2005 version of Norton Internet Security, you needed the Norton Internet Security AntiSpyware Edition to run the antispyware scan.

If you are Norton user running previous versions of Internet Security not including antispyware, consider upgrading.

The powerful spyware detection features by Symantec are now included in the NIS 2008 version so you don't have to worry about spyware threats anymore. Norton Internet Security 2008 cleans out spyware and virus infections upon installation to help ensure effective protection right from the start.

This pre-installation scan procedure will give you an extra protection while there might have been hidden infections on your PC at the time you install the programme.
